Origins of the Druse Faith
11th century onward
The Druse movement emerged in Fatimid Egypt in the early 11th century and took root in the mountains of the Levant.
Under Ottoman Rule
16th – early 20th century
For four centuries the Druse navigated, served, and resisted the Ottoman Empire — from the emirates of Mount Lebanon to migration into the Hauran.
The French Mandate
1920 – 1946
Under French rule the Druse of Syria led the Great Syrian Revolt, while Lebanon's Druse helped shape a new national politics.

In British-administered Palestine, Druse communities of the Galilee and Carmel charted their own path amid a changing political map.
